How MRT Testing Differs From Typical IgG Tests

Most common food sensitivity tests measure IgG immunoglobulins, a type of antibody the immune system produces as a memory response to foods. IgG tests can offer some insight, but elevated IgG levels don’t necessarily mean that a food is causing inflammation. In fact, IgG often increases simply because you eat a food regularly.

MRT (Mediator Release Test) works differently. Instead of measuring antibodies, MRT measures the end result of what actually happens when your white blood cells are exposed to a food or chemical:

How much inflammatory mediator release occurs.

This matters because mediators, not IgG antibodies, are what actually cause symptoms.

So while IgG testing can show exposure or sensitivity patterns, MRT shows what’s actively triggering your cells to fire off inflammatory chemicals, giving us a much clearer picture of what’s contributing to your fatigue, pain, digestive issues, or mood concerns.

In my G.E.N.E.S. Framework, one of the key functional labs I use is the Mediator Release Test (MRT). This test helps us identify which specific foods or food chemicals may be contributing to your low energy, mood fluctuations, digestive discomfort, or that feeling of “something just isn’t right.”

But here’s what makes my approach different:

I don’t simply hand you a list of results and wish you luck.
I walk with you through the process.

Inside the GENES framework, we explore your MRT results together, translating the data into a step-by-step plan that feels realistic and sustainable in your daily life. I coach you through:

  • How to strategically eliminate and reintroduce foods
  • How to nourish your body without feeling deprived
  • How to swap ingredients without stress
  • How to maintain balance when eating with family, traveling, or navigating social events
  • How to understand the difference between true triggers and temporary sensitivities

I also bring my own lived experience into this work. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel when your body is reacting to foods you never thought could be an issue—and how intimidating it is to make dietary adjustments without feeling lost, restricted, or frustrated.

That’s why coaching is such an essential part of the GENES method.
You’re not just getting lab results.

You’re getting guidance, support, and an experienced partner who understands the emotional and practical side of navigating food sensitivities.

Ready to Understand What Your Body Is Actually Reacting To?

If you’re reading this and thinking, “This might be me…” you’re not alone. Many of my clients come to me after years of guessing, Googling, eliminating foods at random, or trying standard sensitivity tests that left them with more questions than answers.

The truth is, you don’t have to figure this out by yourself and you shouldn’t have to.
Your body is sending signals. MRT helps us interpret them. Coaching helps you act on them with clarity and confidence.

That’s exactly what we explore inside a Wellness Blueprint Call.
